Solar energy is an evergreen source of renewable energy that is abundantly available in our atmosphere. Apart from the manufacturing process of solar panels, converting sunlight into electrical energy in itself is a completely green and clean process. With a history dating back to 1883, photovoltaic cells were invented and used to convert solar energy to electricity. At that time the PV cells had an efficiency of only 1-2%, but later in 1954-1960 scientist had achieved up to 14% efficient solar cells. With its ever-increasing capabilities towards a clean and green energy source, further works improved the PV cell efficiency to about 20% in 1985 and these days we have commercial PV cells at about 26% and space grade solar cells at around 46% efficiency. With such a long history, ever-improving solar cells, and increasing demand in the market, it displays the proven metal of solar energy. It's a solid alternative to conventional expensive and polluting fossil fuel energy source.

7. Solar Energy is Growing

From school to universities, form homes to commercial units, everyone is moving towards solar power systems at a much faster pace than ever before. According to the SEIA, in 2018 alone 10.6 gigawatts of solar energy  was added to the system which constituted about 29% of all electrical power installation in the country in 2018. The USA will see a further increase in solar energy systems with a prediction of about 74-gigawatt capacity to be installed by 2024.
